Welcome to Birkdale Intermediate School. Our vision is to provide a quality education in a caring environment. We strive for excellence in all we do to ensure that our students get a well-rounded education that embraces cultural, academic and sporting opportunities while developing our students into confident global citizens.
Our students are talented, respectful and enthusiastic learners. They engage with our environment and thrive in our classrooms where a solid curriculum based on thinking skilfully has been developed to specifically cater for our adolescent learners. We focus on the key competencies from the New Zealand Curriculum which includes numeracy, communication, thinking skills, self-management, social and co-operative skills. Our quests are units of inquiry that challenge our students to think skilfully, develop their ideas and debate their conclusions.
