Welcome to Room 17!
I am very happy to be continuing my journey here at Birkdale Intermediate as a part of Tui Team. This year I am teaching Year 7 in Room 17, and I look forward to getting to know all the fabulous new students who be joining us.
I strongly encourage parents to take an interest in their students’ learning. I ask that parents monitor assigned homework tasks (approximately 4 hours per week), assist with spelling and sign the students’ homework every week. I would also like to welcome all parents to contact me for a chat, visit our room (outside of class hours) and see what their students get up to in Room 17.

Ongoing – This year in Maths we will be focusing on Number & Algebra, Geometry & Measurement, and Statistics. In English, we will be introducing the “Connect-Extend-Challenge” and using this tool throughout the year. Over the course of this year the students will be embarking on several “Quests”. Each Quest is linked to Science or the Social Sciences and they are designed to teach and improve thinking skills. Fitness, Health, and P.E. are also an important part of every student’s life, and these take place regularly throughout the year.
